Happy Veteran's Day, Colonel

November 1967 before heading to Vietnam.
My Dad is in the second row, three in from the left.

From the Colonel's pen pad:
"The second picture was taken recently on the 10th of October, 2009. It is the same platoon, except we are missing 12 members. Of those 12 members, 9 paid the ultimate price within the next 12 months -- they are forever young and heros!! Of those Marines present in the latest photo -- 5 were medically retired from wounds received in Vietnam in 1969. We did a quick count and determined our platoon's causality rate was just about 75% -- which included Purple Hearts. Note that the Steely Eyed Killers are now a little gray and a little heavier and that they are all smiling in the photo -- I call them survivors and brothers!"

Thank you for your sacrifice.
